Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout

Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 4 p.m.

In thirteen vignettes, Elizabeth Strout brings us the inner lives of the small seaside community of Crosby, Maine. Olive Kitteridge, the title character, takes center stage in many of these vignettes, while she is merely a passing presence in others. To what extent is her struggle unique and to what extent is she representative of life in Crosby? Strout’s storytelling is at times easily accessible and at other times, subtle and elusive, but it is always finely crafted.
Facilitator: David Smith, Groton Neighbor member and former English Faculty member, Lawrence Academy. Books available on reserve at Groton Public Library
Special Note: On December 9 at 4 p.m. we will host a film discussion of Olive Kitteridge, a fiour part miniseries featuring Frances McDormand. The series can be rented through Amazon Prime or is on loan through the Groton Public Library.

Click here to register or call 978-272-0123.
Please contact Diane Hewitt with questions.
