About this event
This fall we will read "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," followed in January by Percival Everett’s "James," a reimagining of this American classic through the voice of Huck’s runaway slave companion, Jim.
Our reading of Huck Finn will be greatly enriched by watching Ken Burn’s documentary on the life of Mark Twain. You can access this film through the Groton Public Library, Amazon Prime or PBS Passport.
The library offers three ways to watch this wonderful film for free.
1) Request a DVD copy from Nicole Irvin at nirvin@gpl.org. There are only 6 DVD copies available, so your request to hold one is important.
2) Hoopla - Download the Hoopla app on your phone or tablet and set up your account using your library card number and PIN.
3) Kanopy – Download the Kanopy app on your phone or tablet and set up your account using your library card number and PIN
To learn how to use Hoopla and Kanopy, you may go to the library or call at 978-448-1167. The staff is more than happy to help you.
Additionally, members of Amazon Prime can watch the film for under $5.00; members of PBS Passport can watch for free.
