The Commonwealth’s Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) program provides temporary income replacement and job protections to eligible workers when they need it most. PFML is available to those who are welcoming a new child into their family, are struck by a serious illness or injury, need to take care of an ill or ailing relative, and for certain military considerations. We’ll talk about how you or your family member can take paid family leave for up to 26 weeks in a benefit year and how that can be structured to best meet your individual needs. In addition, we’ll look at the benefits of taking leave and the positive impact it can have for you and your family. Please join us to learn more about this important program, including eligibility, benefits, and how to apply.
For our April book discussion, we will read North Woods by Daniel Mason. Here is a short description from Good Reads:
Nominee for Readers‘ Favorite Historical Fiction (2023)
A sweeping novel about a single house in the woods of New England, told through the lives of those who inhabit it across the centuries—a daring, moving tale of memory and fate from the Pulitzer Prize finalist and author of The Piano Tuner and The Winter Soldier.
Enjoy a delicious farm to table luncheon with your friends and neighbors, followed by an optional tour and conversation with Joe Salisbury, the resident farmer at Gibbet Hill. Joe ensures that the menus are locally sourced and the chef shapes
his menu from what is seasonally available. Entrees include a variety of
salads, cheeses, meats, and soups that range in price from $15.00 to $25.00.
Attendees pay for their own meals. Those participating on the farm tour
should wear sturdy, waterproof shoes.
